Western Australian Museum
This is a free entry museum and definitely worth a look. Great for rainy days (although busier of course) and a tiny walk from the train station, it's suitable for all ages although a couple of parts are difficult to get to with a buggy or wheelchair.
There are separate galleries for mammals, dinosaurs (always a favourite) and features on Australian life (the Aboriginal story and early pioneers) but I've found the best area is the Discovery Centre. This is a hands on exhibit and is simply excellent. Both children and adults find it interesting and there's something for everyone. I would go back there again and again as there's always something new to look at and always something new to touch.
Such a pity that the Blue Whale skeleton they have there isn't on display as they haven't anywhere large enough to house it.
