Medical & Dental - Previous Medical Records
Many people ask if they should bring their medical and dental records with them when they come to Australia.
The NHS in the UK informed me that our medical records would be sent back to the NHS until and if we return. Their view was that they didn't think that there would be any need for us to take them with us.
I have since found out that you are entitled to have access to your records and to have a copy for a small fee. Your GP. Dentist and Optician should supply you with a summary if not a computer printout of the relevant details. Similarly any hospitals that you have had treatment at will allow you a copy of their records, although these records should be duplicated in your own GP's records.
The records could save you difficulty here especially if you have an unusual medical history or are expecting/planning a subsequent child in the future.
