Araluen Botanical Park
Just south of Kalamunda is Araluen Botanical Park and is a real gem.
Originally constructed in the 1920's by the Australian Bush League as a bush retrteat, the park was neglected for years and became overgrown.
In recent years the almost archaeological excavations have revealed elaborate garden terraces, waterfalls and ornamental pools all surrounded by many specimens of tall trees.
There are plenty of picnic spots with the most popular time to visit being July to October when the flowers, including the tulips that the park is famous for, are all in full bloom.
