Caversham Wildlife Park, Perth

Caversham is a great wildlife park with plenty of native and farm animals to see. This is a definite one to put on the list for visitors, all mine have loved it!

The park has grassed picnic areas if you want to eat in Caversham although it's in the middle of Whiteman Park (see the separate entry on Whiteman Park for more info), so you've plenty of picnic areas there to go at too.

Caversham is not so big that it takes hours to get around, a couple of hours is more than enough to see everything. All the native animals are divided up into areas of Australia so you'll see a Quokka in the South West area for instance but no Koalas. This helps children and visitors understand the differences between the various states and climates.

There is normally one Koala enclosure that is open for you to go into to touch and stroke the koalas. A keeper will be in there too to answer any questions.

At various times there is also either a Hairy Nosed Wombat or a Common Wonbat available to hold and have your picture taken with. Again, this is something that all my visitors have loved as people's perceptions of wombats has been totally wrong!

Molly's Farm has a good selection of farm animals, some common (cows, hens etc) and not so common (llamas). There are also plenty of rabbits and guinea pigs that the under 5's can feed and pet. You can also have a camel ride in Molly's Farm which is extra to the entrance cost.

You can get more information at www.cavershamwildlife.com.au including the opening times and entrance cost.
