Cinema and Film in Perth
Apparently going to the cinema is the most popular leisure activity (apart from sport of course!) in Australia.
In addition to the usual in town cinemas, there are open air cinemas in Summer. The largest of these is the one in Kings Park at the Western Power Parkland. This normally commences in December and runs until mid March. The program is usually relased in November and more information is available by clicking here.
You can find your local cinema either by looking in the Yellow Pages or checking out the websites of the major cinema chains operating in Perth;
Greater Union Cinemas at the Innaloo Megaplex & Morley
Hoyts Cinemas at Cinema City and Garden City in Perth, Fremantle and Cannington
Luna Palace Cinemas at Leederville, Northbridge, Fremantle & Nedlands
Classifications of film in Australia are as follows:
G - General release, no age restriction
PG - Parental Guidance for children under 15, not suitable for children under 12
M - Mature, anyone over 15
R - Restricted, anyone over 18
Perth Film Festival
Perth has it's own film festival in July each year which features a host of film and music related activities including 21 Australian premiers in five venues with Oscar nominees and film festival winners from Sundance, Slandance, Berlin and Toronto Film Festivals.
