Top 10 Things To Do In Perth
Whether you're here on a holiday or you've got visitors staying with you, you'll need to get out there and see all that Perth has to offer.
With this in mind (and believe me, we have had more visitors staying with us in our 1st year in Perth than I've had BBQ's), I have compiled my own top 10 list of things to do in Perth.
Enjoy!
PS Please feel free to add a comment on the bottom of this article if you disagree or want to add your own top 10 list, the more the merrier and you may give me some ideas for my next lot of visitors!
1. Kings Park
It has to be my number one as there are so many different places within the Park and we normally take at least 3 or 4 days to cover them all.
Including - Western Power Parkland, DNA Tower, Botanical & Water Gardens, War Memorial and Lotterywest Playground.
Primarily for Caversham Wildlife Park I have to admit as everyone wants to stroke a koala and have a wombat on their knee.
3. AQWA - The Aquarium of Western Australia
This is a good one for a cloudy or rainy couple of hours as most of the aquarium is indoors. Where else can you or your visitors pick up a sea star or a sea cucumber? Plus Hillarys Boat Harbour is great for a spot of lunch or a mosey.
4. Beaches
Including, but not limited to, Scarborough, Mullalloo and Yanchep Lagoon.
5. Perth Zoo
I'm a sucker for the zoo I have to admit and have visited many. I love Perth Zoo because you can fit it all into one day (10am to 4pm should do it), with time for lunch and an afternoon coffee break and still feel as if you've seen all that there is to be seen, and done it justice too. Nothing worse than having to go home with a big chunk left unseen.
6. Afternoon Tea at the Indiana Tea Rooms in Cottesloe
A particular favourite as most of my visitors have seen the Tea Rooms on promotional literature, websites or calendars and want to see what it's all about.
7. Fremantle
Taking a day out to visit Fremantle is well worth it as it's so completely different to Perth. A fish & chip lunch at one of the harbour cafes and a wander round the town and the market is a nice change from the norm.
Most of my visitors haven't been that interested in shopping but everyone has enjoyed a visit to the city and a wander down to Swan Bells. Taking a train to the city is so easy and much better than trawling round trying to find a parking space.
9. The Museum of Western Australia
Great for rainy days and for people with or without kids. It's free and everyone will find something interesting.
10. Rottnest Island and/or Whale Watching
Rottnest is worth a visit although if you're just going to sit on the beaches then it's a bit of an expensive day out.
Whale Watching in October to December is worth it though and is something special.

Burswood casino
Even for the non gamblers Burswood is worth a visit. We had dinner, then a few drinks in the cocktail lounge. Upon arrival the building is very impressive with lit palm trees. I think it's worth posting on a to do list

I think this visitor would rather like the shopping when she visits you! I'd also like to do the whale watching so if that could be arranged for the first two weeks in April next year then your next lot of visitors would be very happy!!

Honestly relatives!
Hi Sian,
No can do on the whales I'm afraid as they're too far out to sea at that time of year, October to December is the best time of year to see them from Perth.
Shopping is fine all year round though!!!

Indianna Tearooms certainly aren't somewhere I would take my children that they'd enjoy, I really don't know to many kids that would love that at all. Very confused it would be on the top 10 list of things for kids to do, for adult visitors to Perth I could understand, but really, I doubt that's high on any kids list of things to do.

Hi Lisa
I haven't compiled this list as one specifically to do with kids although they would enjoy many of the items, this is just my top 10 of things to do. Perhaps you'd like to compile your top 10 (with or without kids) and publish it as a comment on here, I'm sure we'd all appreciate the input!
I have to say that my eldest (6 now but 4 at the time) loved the tearooms as he's rather partial to a BabyChino and a big wedge of cake and it's rather welcome at the end of a long day at the beach!
Regards, Claire
