Lake Ballard, a salt lake in the interior of Western Australia, didn't mean much to anyone outside of Menzies (800km north west of Perth), until 2003 when it became a sculpture mecca.

The “Inside Australia” exhibition was commissioned to mark the 50th anniversary celebrations of the Perth International Arts Festival in 2003 and an idea of internationaly renowned artist and Turner Prize Winner, Antony Gormley (he of the "Angel of the North" fame in the UK).

Elton John is Coming

The rumour mill was once again correct as Chugg Entertainment have confirmed that Elton John is touring Australia with his "Captain and the Kid Tour" and will be in Perth on Monday 11 December at the Burswood Dome.

Chugg have promised that it will be an evening of classic Elton John songs, a 2 hour non stop concert.

Ashes Tickets in Jeopardy?

Cricket Australia has recently cancelled 1300 tickets for the Ashes Tests this Summer, reports the BBC and The West Australian, which were sold online at inflated prices.

Those cricket fans who bought tickets in this way may well be turned away from the match venues.

It was one of the warmest Spring days on record yesterday with the Mt Lawley Bureau of Meteorology hitting 26.7C at 1.30pm.

It was the hottest August day since 1998 but didn't beat the record of 27.8C set in 1940.

Is another HUGE star coming to Perth in what must be the most star studded few months for Perth music lovers ever?

There's a strong rumour in the West Australian (but not confirmed by Chugg Entertainment yet) that Elton John will be playing Burswood Dome on 11 December.

What Do You Think Of The New Perth Arena Design?

Clicking around on PerthNow, I spotted a picture that I really didn't like the look of...imagine my suprise when it turned out to be an artists impression of the newly planned "Perth Arena"!

I have to say that I think it's really ugly!

Let's hope that the other newly announced stadium to be built on the existing Subiaco Oval will be a better looker.
