This is one of the most common marine animals in Western Australia and is otherwise known as the Periwinkle.

In WA they are found as far north as Ningaloo Marine Park and go all around the southern coast of Australia to Southern Queensland.

Will it be an Early Fire Season?

Fire and Forestry authorities are predicting that this Summer could be a bad time for bushfires and may well start six week earlier than usual because of the record dry Winter.

The experts are predicting that the bushfire season could start as early as mid November instead of the usual end of December.

The Melbourne Cup

The Melbourne Cup is "The Race That Stops The Nation" and is Australia's most famous horse race of the year (think Grand National if you're a Brit).

Always held on the first Tuesday in November, it's that popular in Victoria that they get an extra public holiday because of it!

Rottnest's accommodation upgrade is steaming ahead with 202 units already completed out of a total of 308. The rest will be completed next Winter in time for the Summer 2007/08 season, 12 months ahead of schedule.

Some of the biggest names in cricket will hit a unique pitch on Scarborough Beach over the Australia Day long weekend next January, in a world first for Western Australia.

XXXX Gold Beach Cricket will pit Australian cricket greats including Allan Border, Kim Hughes, Dean Jones, Dennis Lillee, and Mark Waugh against former England and West Indian legends such as Graham Gooch, Darren Gough, Allan Lamb, Joel Garner, Courtney Walsh and Curtly Ambrose.
