Enviromental Issues Hit Australia

Australia has been in the news recently for still not signing the Kyoto agreement but this last 24 hours has raked up more environmental issues for John Howard. It seems that the environment will be a big factor in this years Federal Goverment elections.
Australia has decided to invest more than $200 million in protecting the worlds forests in a bid to tackle illegal logging and global warming but experts are saying that it won't make any difference without a signature on the Kyoto Protocol.
Meanwhile in WA, a tiny creature only 4mm long has stopped a planned $10billion new mine for Rio Tinto. The troglobites are tiny cave-dwelling creature which resemble spiders.
Also in WA but this time in the unique south west corner global warming is being blamed for lower rainfalls for the past 50 years.
It seems that John Howard has a battle on his hands.
