Solar hits Kalgoorlie

Solar Power
Originally uploaded by stephentrepreneur.
In the 80's whilst I was a teenager my Mother and Father got a UK grant to put experimental solar panels on the roof of our house to see if they would cut down fuel bills. Which they did I belive and we lived in cloudy Manchester.

So it's always bemused me that Australia hasn't got more solar panels. Why aren't new houses equipped with them as standard for instance? I'm not sure of the politics behind it all but it did come as a nice suprise to hear that the town of Kalgoorlie is going to have the first solar power station connected to a main grid which will supply around 500 homes with power.

Now don't stop there - keep going and get the whole of Kalgoorlie on and who knows, we all may have solar power as standard oh in about 100 years!
