Loud Shirt Day

Husband mentioned "Loud Shirt Day" to me the other day and said that he would probably wear his extra loud almost florescent pink shirt to work. Why he was telling me that so far in advance I'm not sure. Maybe he wants me to put it on the calendar or something? More likely it will need an iron before he wears it and that's why he's brought it up!

Anyhoo if you fancy wearing a loud shirt (or socks or tie) in aid of Telethon's Speech & Hearing programmes, then get yours ready to wear on the 15th of May 2009.

Throw out your usual dress rules and get your work or school to participate by wearing the loudest, brightest or craziest shirt, tie or socks, in return for a gold coin donation to Telethon Speech and Hearing.

List Person

I am a definite list person. I find that you either are or you aren't. I have been known to start a list with a couple of items that I've already done just so I can cross them off and feel good about myself.

My list of Things To Do for last weekend included dropping off eldest son to a birthday party and dropping off husband to Rock It at Arena. You'll notice that he went on his own (well with friends but without me), that'll be because I'd hardly heard of the bands that are on this year, let alone know and like their music so rather than subject myself to a possible 10 hours of complete hell, he's on his own. Now if Green Day and Oasis (both previous Rock It attendees) were on then you wouldn't be able to keep me away.

As it was, I was thinking of going with visiting family (it's that time of year...again) to Sculpture by the Sea at Cottesloe which started last weekend but since we were off to Hillaries to keep a Birthday promise to eldest son on Saturday and then he went to the Birthday party right in the middle of the day on Sunday, that put paid to that.

Maybe I should start making my weekend list for NEXT weekend now?

See the Stars at Gingin

On our way to Shark Bay we passed the outskirts of Gingin and saw the signs for the observatory and the Gravity Discovery centre which sounded fascinating but obviously we didn't get a chance to stop.

But we may well go along to one of these events!

Gingin Observatory and the Gravity Discovery Centre are going to be hosting some events during May and June in celebration of the next steps in the preparation for human exploration of Mars.

Gingin Observatory and the Mars Society Australia Inc (MSA) are presenting a special night on the Phoenix Lander and will report mission updates on May 31. There's also a "bring your own telescope" class (this is definitely one for my husband who has a telescope and can only find the moon with it!) and learn the basic techniques of telescope use on Thursday 15 May or Sunday 15 June.

For more information or to get a full list of events, visit the Gingin Observatory website or email the Observatory .
